This Springfield Armory manufactured late variation cam latch assembly is for the later model 1873 trapdoor rifle and carbine and is in very good condition exhibiting a grayish brown patina with light wear and rust staining.  (file photo)

Note: Late trapdoor rifles and carbines with serial numbers above circa 67,000 were manufactured with this style cam latch assembly that was modified on the thumb piece notch so as to not interfere with the spring loaded firing pins.
